Painted Figs x LCC Crafting Competition

Enter the Paintedfigs X Lanka Comic Con Crafting Competition!

Have fun being creative and working on your modelling and crafting in this competition.

We’re looking for interesting, immersive dioramas horror-themed dioramas. Your entry could be eerie, gruesome, supernatural, gothic, unsettling, or anything else inspired by the world of horror. The subject and style are up to you!

The emphasis of the competition is on creativity and craftsmanship. While 3D-printed, laser-cut, and commercially available components can be used, we want the majority of each diorama to showcase the entrant’s own hands-on work. By this, we mean that we would like to see at least 80% of your original work shape your diorama.

Once your diorama is complete, submit photographs of your finished piece on this page, below. by the submission deadline. Entries will then go through two rounds of selection:

Round 1 : Picture Review

Round 2 : (For those who make it past Round 1): Display and Review at Lanka Comic Con

Competition Criteria

Rule 1 –
Maximum Base Size No dioramas may have a base larger than 1 ft x 1 ft.

Rule 2 –
Mainly or All Handcrafted Content At least 4/5ths of the finished diorama should consist of handcrafted work. Up to 1/5th of the diorama may consist of 3D-printed, laser-cut, or similarly fabricated elements.  The judges decide what 1/5th will look like, so better to play it safe. The purpose of this rule is to make craftsmanship and creativity a central part of the competition.

Rule 3 –
Store-Bought Materials Are Okay  Store-bought materials and components are welcome. These can be used as part of the construction, detailing, basing, or decoration of your diorama. This is because we are assessing how good your diorama looks. Not just how much time and trouble it took you. How good it looks matters more than how much work it was to do – just like in the real world.  Again, if using 3D-printed or laser cut elements, you can’t exceed 1/5th. The judges decide what 1/5th will look like, so better to play it safe.
